NOTE: I write books for people. But I do NOT write papers for students, help people cheat, or do anything I consider unethical.
What's the difference between editing, rewriting and writing?
Editing works with words, grammar, punctuation of your existing book manuscript. If you look at your book and think, This is what I want, but I just want it polished, then choose editing.
Rewriting works with the ideas behind the words of your completed book manuscript. To rewrite your book, I need to solidly understand your message, and find ways to better convey your ideas. If you look at your completed manuscript and think, This could be better said, then choose rewriting.
Writing is the service I provide when I work from your notes, your presentations, our conversations and/or additional research.
Fees:
Writing your book is 15 cents per word to write a first draft. A first draft usually gets us close to what you want. Example: 25,000 words (about 100 pages) is $3,750. Revisions are 10 cents per word added and 10 cents per word subtracted as compared in WinMerge. Example: 1,000 words of revision is $100.
Rewriting your book is 10 cents per word. Example: 25,000 words (about 100 pages) is $2,500. Revisions are 10 cents per word added and 10 cents per word subtracted as compared in WinMerge. Example: 1,000 words of revision is $100.
Editing your book is 3 cents per word, and I may outsource that function.
10% discount if you prepay. Otherwise, a retainer is expected along with installments.
We talk about charges up front, before we get into billable work. I don't like surprises, and I don't surprise people with hidden charges.
